Support

Help for setup, troubleshooting, and everyday ChronicleShot questions.

ChronicleShot helps you reconstruct travel history from photo metadata in your Apple Photos library. This support page covers setup, what to check when results look incomplete, and how to contact us if you need direct help.

Instructions

How to get ChronicleShot working smoothly.

A quick setup pass solves most first-run issues. These steps assume you are using ChronicleShot on an iPhone or iPad with access to your Apple Photos library.

1

Allow photo access

Open ChronicleShot and allow access to your photo library. If you previously denied access, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > ChronicleShot and allow access there.

2

Let the app finish analysis

ChronicleShot needs time to scan photo dates and location metadata, especially on larger libraries. Keep the app open until the first analysis pass completes.

3

Review visit results

Once the timeline appears, browse visits by country and date range. If something looks incomplete, check whether the underlying photos contain date and GPS metadata.

4

Use exports when needed

When you want a practical travel record, use ChronicleShot’s export tools to generate a cleaner summary from the visits shown in the app.

FAQ

Answers to the questions people ask most often.

Why are some of my photos not appearing in ChronicleShot?

First check that ChronicleShot has photo access. If access is already enabled, the most common causes are that analysis is still running, the app needs to be reopened, or the affected photos are missing usable metadata.

Why do some locations show as unknown?

ChronicleShot can only place photos on the map when the image metadata includes usable location information. If a photo was taken without GPS data, imported from another source, or stripped of metadata, ChronicleShot may not be able to map it precisely.

Why is refresh or analysis taking a long time?

Larger libraries naturally take longer, especially on the first full pass. Let the app stay open for a while, make sure your device is not in a severely constrained power state, and try again if the process was interrupted.

How does ChronicleShot group my travel chronology?

ChronicleShot uses photo dates and available location metadata to organise photos into visits and travel periods. The exact output depends on the quality and consistency of the metadata already in your library.

What should I do if the app crashes or looks wrong?

Close and reopen the app first. If the issue continues, email support with your device model, iOS or iPadOS version, ChronicleShot version, and a short description of what you were doing when the issue happened.

Does ChronicleShot upload my photo library?

ChronicleShot is designed around local analysis of your photo metadata so you can build a travel chronology without needing to manually reconstruct it elsewhere.
